Sallie Manning Evans of Ayden, North Carolina, a longtime member of Bethany Free Will Baptist Church, who after marriage attended Rose Hill “out in the country” near Haddocks Crossroads for many years, looks forward to my “regular” telephone calls.On a weekly basis, she and I reminisce about family,friends, and especially the music of the church—music that she and our late sisters sang in trio all over Pitt County during their youth and young adulthood.
